Product Description
This is an original equipment transponder key and will work with the vehicles listed below. This is a TRANSPONDER KEY. Most modern automobiles have keys with transponder chips hidden inside the plastic head of the key. When a key is inserted into the ignition lock cylinder and turned, the car's computer sends a radio signal to the transponder. Unless the transponder replies with a valid code, the computer will not allow the engine to be started. Transponder keys have no battery; they are energized by the radio signal itself.
PROGRAMMING: This is a blank key that must be cut to match your current key. Many hardware stores or locksmiths can do this for you. In addition, your car must be programmed to recognize the transponder. You can do this yourself provided you already have one working master key. Easy, do-it-yourself programming procedures are included with purchase. If you do not have one working, factory transponder key, you will have to have a dealer or locksmith do the programming. Any programming fees are not included in the purchase price.
Programming Notes: Canadian manufactured vehicles do not have an on-board programming procedure. If your VIN number starts with a "2" it is a Canadian vehicle and the do-it-yourself programming will not work. Programming must be done by a GM dealer or qualified locksmith with proper programming equipment.
