GM AP8 vs AP3
There is a lot of confusion surrounding the AP8 code regarding remote start capability on GM vehicles.
AP3 is factory INSTALLED remote start - meaning the vehicle has remote start already
AP8 is Remote Start PREP package (meaning remote start can be added later)
IF YOUR VEHICLE HAS AP8:
Only the dealer can install the remote start. You have to buy the remote start package from GM. It comes with two key fobs and instructions.
The instructions have a unique code that comes with the package and the dealer has to use this key to get a VIN specific code from GM. This GM
Code is then used by the technician to activate and unlock the remote start in the BCM.
This is why you cannot just buy the key fobs without the special code. GM will not give out the unlock code without being given the one from
the OEM remote start package.
Once it is unlocked in the BCM you can then use any remote start key fob without going through this procedure again.
Once again: CODE AP8 MEANS IT HAS THE PREP PACKAGE, IT DOES NOT ACTUALLY HAVE REMOTE START AND JUST BUYING REMOTES WITH THE R/S BUTTON WILL NOT GIVE YOU THAT FUNCTION.

Easy install
We had gone for over a year without, what a pain. If I had known it was this simple I would have ordered sooner.

Great product at a great price.
The keyless remotes I ordered for my Chevy Traverse arrived on the estimated date. Programming was effortless and took just a very few minutes. At less than half the price of the remotes from the dealer and th ease of programming, I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. I highly recommend KeylessRemotes.com. 5 stars!,

Review of Keyless Remote Order
I received my order of 2 keyless remotes in a timely manner. The cost was very affordable. I had to pay my auto dealer $49 to have my new fobs programmed. This was necessary as my vehicle is a 2013 Chevy.

Great Replacement
The remote for my 2008 Silverado stopped working. I replaced the battery, but still wouldn't work. I was dreading the price of OEM dealership replacements. I found these online and decided to order based on the price and reviews. They arrived very fast and had both programmed in less than a minute! I have more range now than the "original" remote has had in a long time (while it was working). These are not as heavy / solid as the original factory remotes, but seem to be doing great! I would recommend these to anyone needing a replacement that is within the years specified. I was a little upset to find that Chevy changed things in 2011 and you can't DIY program remotes after that year. I also have a 2012 Suburban, but can't order more of these remotes because Chevy took the programing away from the customer.
