Product Description
This is a Strattec after market transponder key blank and will work on the cars listed below. Most modern automobiles have keys with transponders hidden inside the plastic head of the key. When a key is inserted into the ignition lock cylinder and turned, the car's computer sends a radio signal to the transponder. Unless the transponder replies with a valid code, the computer will not allow the engine to be started. Transponder keys have no battery; they are energized by the radio signal itself.
This is a blank transponder key that must be cut to match your current key. Many hardware stores or locksmiths can do this for you. In addition, your car must be trained to recognize the transponder. If you already have two working keys, you can program additional keys yourself. Otherwise, programming is only possible by a dealer or locksmith with diagnostic equipment.

The Perfect Key
After finally getting the Jeep dealer to scan the key without charge, I finally have the second key for my Jeep Wrangler that the dealer couldn't provide. Dealer initially wanted over $200 dollars for the replacement key.
